Overview

Proper filing of email messages is essential for information governance and knowledge management. Most law firms require client-related email to be filed to the correct client and matter in their Document Management System. Even within Outlook or another email platform, filing messages to the correct folder will save time in the long run.

Email Filing Software

Add-ons to Outlook or other email platforms can make filing easier. Available product include:

  • HerculesAI
  • iManage Mailbox Assistant (Note: As of April 2025, the beta program for Mailbox Assistant was closed and a date for General Availability had not been announced.)
  • SimplyFile (Note: As of April 2025, SimplyFile had not announced a version that is compatible with New Outlook. It is unclear whether such an add-in is on the road map.)
